Today on the Choose to Be Happy Podcast, we learn how WHERE we spend our time and attention- greatly impacts our energy.

It is important to take notice of how you feel when you are around certain people/ places and things, and notice if your energy feels fueled or depleted after you give your time or attention.

If you feel drained or sad or nervous while watching a certain TV show or movie– OR if having a conversation with a certain person leaves you feeling awful, ask yourself- is it necessary to devote so much of your time and energy in that space?

Also, it is important to notice which things in your life- make you feel good- make you happy, bring you to life.

And ask yourself- could you spend more of your time and attention- doing those things?

The goal is to get to a point where you are choosing to do more of the things that make you feel happy, and less of the time doing those things that make you feel bad.

This is how you choose where your energy goes. This is how you choose to be happy.

I used to think it was selfish to focus on self care, but then I realized that when you show up with good energy, your light inspires the light to force its way out of others so that they can let themselves sparkle too. You are an instrument of change, adding so much light to the world.

Special thanks to Cathy Heller and her podcast “Don’t Keep Your Day Job” for the inspiration to put this show together, and for her song Gonna Make a Change which is featured in the episode.
