Today on the Let Yourself Sparkle Podcast, I talk about how done is better than perfect.
I was recently inspired to record my podcast every day for 100 days! This was inspired by Board Certified Music Therapist- Alison Hughey (who runs the 100-ish Day Challenge through her Facebook Group Compose Your Self Care.
It was my 39th birthday yesterday, and I am away on a mini camping adventure with my family, and I obviously did not have an interview lined up for today on the podcast. I figured, it’s my birthday, I’ll take the day off.
But then I woke up this morning in the woods, looked at my phone and started scrolling through facebook, and saw a post Alison had shared on her Facebook group: Compose Your Self Care: Music + Creativity For Wellness— and it was all about how “doing things half-assed is better than nothing.”
She’s right. Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly. My sister says going for a walk is better than not going for a run. Don’t let perfectionism – stop you from doing what you want to do.
So while this episode is really short, and really imperfect, and it lacks my fancy intro and ending, it is better than nothing. And I wanted to post this to inspire you to realize that done is better than perfect. It’s even better than good. Just do it.
Thank you Alison for inspiring me to do the 100-ish day challenge and to post today! You can also find her on instagram @ComposeYourSelfCare
Special thanks to Cathy Heller and her podcast “Don’t Keep Your Day Job” for the inspiration to put this show together.
